     After Holden is expelled from his boarding school, he decides to go on an adventure in New York before returning home to his angry parents. 

3. The Perks of Being a Wallflower

    This novel is written in letter form from a freshman in high school named Charlie. Charlie is always observing what is going on, but when he meets two new friends, they change hi entire perspective on life.

4. The Joy Luck Club

     June struggles with the difference between her Chinese ancestors and their beliefs and her new American side.

5. Their Eyes Were Watching God

     Jane Crawford is from a family whose ancestors were slaves. Jane tells the story of her young life through three different eyes, describing the most important relationships she had on her own.
